A taste of spiced, sustainable luxury in the Langhe

Sustainable Elegance in the Langhe – The Speziale Way

Piedmont—and especially the Langhe—is a region where tradition, nature, and innovation blend in harmony. Speziale Wine Resort embodies this spirit, offering a kind of hospitality where elegance meets environmental consciousness. Sustainability isn’t just a choice here; it’s a daily mindset. Here’s how we bring it to life:

Energy management

Since the renovation of our building in 2022, we’ve integrated energy-conscious practices into every space:

  • Photovoltaic panels power part of the resort with clean energy.
  • Thermal insulation and energy-efficient windows help maintain indoor comfort while reducing energy use.
  • Low-consumption LED lighting throughout the property.
  • Programmable thermostats to avoid energy waste.
  • Appliances selected for low energy consumption.

Water conservation

Water is precious. That’s why we’ve adopted simple, effective ways to reduce waste:

  • Seasonal, low-water-footprint breakfasts, sourced locally.
  • Refillable water station in the tasting room—plastic bottles, goodbye.
  • Rainwater harvesting for garden irrigation.
  • Drip irrigation with timers to optimize use.
  • Towel and linen changes upon request.
  • Low-consumption toilets in every room.

Waste management

Less waste, more thoughtfulness:

  • Recycling bins in each room.
  • Composting of organic waste.
  • Minimal single-use plastics, replaced with compostable or reusable options.
  • Refillable toiletries made in Piedmont with natural oils, free of parabens, silicones, and animal testing.
  • Eco-certified cleaning products.

Food waste reduction

Breakfast at our Agriturismo is “speziale” ans it isn’t just delicious—it’s conscious:

  • Territory-focused ingredients to reduce food waste and support local producers.
  • Flexible menus tailored to guests’ preferences.
  • Local artisan bread over industrial products.
  • Fresh dishes made to order to avoid leftovers

Sustainable mobility

Exploring the Langhe has never been easier—or greener:

  • E-Bike rentals: We can assist you in renting e-bikes to explore the Langhe while reducing CO₂ emissions.
  • Bike parking: An equipped bike parking area is available for parking and charging your bicycles.
  • Electric car charging station: A charging station for electric cars is available (for a fee).

Social sustainability

Caring for people is part of our culture:

  • Accessible spaces and thoughtful design for all guests.
  • Inclusive menus that respect different dietary needs.
  • Jams and products from social inclusion initiatives.
  • Authentic local experiences, to enhance the community and support local activities through collaboration with Langhe Experience.

Economic Sustainability

  • Promotion of longer stays: We encourage longer stays for more responsible tourism.
  • Collaboration with local producers and restaurants: We work with local producers and restaurants to foster community growth.
  • Km “0” products: Our menus feature products from local farms. A list of our friendly suppliers is available for our guests.
  • Company garden: Cultivated by Gian, our garden provides a sustainable supply of most of the vegetables used for light lunches.
  • And then… Fratelli Alessandria: For aperitifs under the porch or by the pool, Verduno Pelaverga and Langhe Favorita are favorites; for surprises in the room, Barolo del Comune di Verduno and Barolo Monvigliero are the top choices!

At Speziale Wine Resort, sustainability is not a trend—it’s our way of living. Every choice reflects a deeper respect for nature, the community, and the territory.

Because true luxury isn’t just about beauty.
It’s about balance.
And here in the Langhe, that balance tastes “Speziale.”
